PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Rutgers Institute for the Study of Employee Ownership and Profit Sharing has announced the 2025 William Foote Whyte and Kathleen King Whyte Book Prize, an award recognizing significant contributions to the advancement of economic democracy.

This year, the prize is shared by two recipients, including Democratizing the Corporation: The Bicameral Firm and Beyond edited by Isabelle Ferreras, Joel Rogers and Tom Malleson. Featuring contributions from 12 leading scholars, the volume explores the transformative potential of bicameral corporate governance. The book builds on the idea that private firms should incorporate a chamber of worker representatives, sharing decision-making authority with the traditional board of directors, which represents ownership interests. By engaging experts from multiple disciplines, the volume offers a groundbreaking perspective on how democratic principles can be embedded within corporate structures.

This award is a fantastic recognition of the authors’ collective work and a testament to the growing impact of their ideas on the future of workplace democracy.
